Late goals by Savannah Baldwin and Meghan Worden negated a hat trick by Walton's Grace Rhinehart as Sidney claimed a 4-3 win in Midstate Athletic Conference girls soccer.

First-half goals by Baldwin and Worden were equaled by two strikes from Rhinehart in the opening period. Her first came from a penalty kick before a high shot later in the half ended the period tied at two.

Walton took the lead, 3-2, when Rhinehart finished her hat trick with another penalty kick. But Baldwin equalized for Sidney and Worden scored her second of the day with 5:40 remaining to lift Sidney.

Worden finished with two goals and Baldwin totaled two goals and an assist.

Walton owned the shot count, 15-12, but Sidney took six corners to Walton's five.

Ellissa Beach made seven saves for Walton, and Meghan Greco stopped 12 shots for Sidney.

Walton (1-2) visits Oxford on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Schenevus 4, Worcester 0

The Worcester defense held a productive Schenevus offense scoreless for most of the second half, but not before the Dragons scored three in the opening period of a Tri-Valley League match.

Taylor Knapp got Schenevus on the scoreboard less than 10 minutes into the first half on a free kick.

A Worcester defensive error allowed Hannah Sulas to capitalize and make the deficit two with 23:27 remaining in the period, before Angelina Competiello scored to make it 3-0 at the half.

The Wolverines played 39 minutes of scoreless defense in the second half before Lilian Competiello got loose and hit a shot from 20 yards out to make the score 4-0 with 53 seconds remaining.

Miriam Odell made seven saves for Worcester, and Alexia Piercy stopped one shot for Schenevus.

Worcester visits Windham on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Unadilla Valley 4, Afton/Harpursville 0.

A hat trick from Kadence York and a goal from Jaiden Schrag sent Unadilla Valley to the win over Afton/Harpursville.

The Storm took a 3-0 lead into the break before York added her third of the night in the second to make it 4-0.

Ashlynne Caffery of Afton/Harpursville (0-1) had a busy game, making 14 saves. Unadilla Valley keeper Meegan White only had to stop one shot.

The Storm concluded with a 18-1 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corners.

Unadilla Valley (1-0) hosts Delhi on Monday at 4:30 p.m.


Seton Catholic 203, Oneonta 324

Seton Catholic defeated Oneonta behind scores of 36 from Liam Burtis and Dylan Fahs.

Cameron Sitts paced the Yellowjackets with a 50, followed by Seamus Catella (54) and Max Gelbsman (57).

Oneonta (0-3) hosts Susquehanna Valley on Monday at 4 p.m.

Dominick Hartwell earned medalist honors in Sidney's win over Greene at Sidney Golf and Country Club on Thursday.

Hartwell shot a 40 and was followed by Corbin Constable (46), Ryan Cole (49), Garrett Beckwith (51), Carter DuMond (51) and Ben Miller (55).

Greene (0-4) was led by Steven Mills (55), Clayton Leonard (59), Nick Brady (60), Lincoln Youngs (61), Anthony Thatcher (64) and Maeric Barrows (65).

Sidney (3-0) hosts Afton/Harpursville on Monday at 4:30.
