Oneonta High School alumnus Tanner Beang threw a complete-game shutout for Oneonta Post 259, lifting the Green Wave to a season-opening 3-0 win against Hillcrest Post 1194 during Thursday's Legion action.

Beang, who is coming off his freshman season at the College of Saint Rose, struck out 10 and allowed just one hit in his complete game.

"Tanner dominated on the mound from start to finish," Oneonta head coach Mike Jester said. "He got about 15 innings this season in college as a freshman and he came in and looked sharp today."

Beang also delivered at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with the game's only extra-base hit, a double.

The Green Wave took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and made it 3-0 with another run in the fifth.

John Mikolaicyk, a member of OHS Class of 2018, drove in all three runs in a 2-for-3 performance for the Green Wave.

Mikolaicyk finished his freshman season at Rochester Institute of Technology with two home runs and eight RBI in 16 starts for the Tigers.

Oneonta (1-0) hosts Utica for a doubleheader at Oneonta High School on Saturday. Opening pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 12 p.m. Game 2 is set to start at 3 p.m.
