Junior Ben Detar and the women's 800-yard free relay team earned honorable mention All-America status for Hartwick College during the third day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday at Shenandoah, Texas.
Honorable mention recognition goes to the top 16 finishers in each event.
Detar placed 16th in the 200 butterly. He touched in 1 minute, 50.22 seconds, .03 ahead of the 17th-place finisher. Detar becomes the 26th Hartwick male swimmer to earn the distinction.
The Hawks relay team of junior Imma Rutigliano, seniors Kaitlyn Campbell and Gwen Mathias, and sophomore Rachel Bellis finished ninth. That team, which won the state and Empire 8 Conference titles, finished in 7:40.97 and joined a list of 22 other Hartwick female swimmers to earn honorable mention All-America status or better.
