Sydney Gagnon scored in the 57th minute to propel Hartwick to the win past rival SUNY Oneonta, 3-2, Wednesday at Wright Stadium.
The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Allyson Quirk scored in the 3rd minute after accepting a feed from Katie Meuse.
The Red Dragons registered the next two goals as Ally McCrudden and Chloe Lynch found twine to put O-State up, 2-1.
Brooke Singer potted the equalizer in the 25th minute on a penalty corner. It was one of six corners the Hawks earned, while the Red Dragons finished with 17.
Gagnon’s game-winner came off the rush on a pass from the outside circle off the stick of Leah Tolley.
O-State outshot Hartwick, 16-12, and compiled fewer saves (10-6) in the loss.
The Hawks (2-0) host Morrisville State College on Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. Oneonta (2-1) visits Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday at 3 p.m.
