Top seed Cherry Valley-Springfield earned a place in the Tri-Valley League girls basketball final with a 74-52 semifinal win over visiting No. 4 Edmeston on Monday, Feb. 10, behind double-doubles from Joleen Lusk and Marijke Kroon.

The Patriots took a 22-15 lead after one period, but it was a 15-6 run in the second quarter that created a 16-point deficit, 37-21, at halftime.

Lusk had 11 field goals and went 6-for-8 from the foul line to lead all scorers with 28 points. She completed a double-double with 14 rebounds while also recording six blocks and five assists.

Kroon had 13 points on six baskets and a foul shot, and earned a first varsity double-double with a team-high 19 rebounds.

Sarah Lewis had 12 points, Kendra McGovern had eight and Kelsey Girard contributed six for CV-S.

Maria Williams scored 20 points to pace Edmeston, while Madison Bolton had 12 and Logan Lund scored 11.

The result sets up a TVL final between CV-S and Franklin, slated for Saturday, Feb. 15, at SUNY Oneonta.

Unatego 41, Sidney 32

Jenna Faulkner led with 13 points as Unatego avoided a second consecutive loss with a Midstate Athletic Conference win over host Sidney.

Unatego took a 14-6 lead after one period, which proved decisive as the Spartans held a 27-26 edge over the final three periods.

Faulkner hit six field goals and a foul shot to lead all scorers with 13. Meghan Perry was next with six points for Unatego, which had nine players score.

Savannah Baldwin and Emma Simmons each scored 10 points to pace Sidney. Baldwin had a pair of 3-pointers to finish with three field goals and a pair of foul shots, while Simmons had two baskets and a 5-for-6 mark at the foul line.

Unatego (15-2, 8-1) will play its third MAC game in four days by welcoming Greene on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
