Sarah Lewis contributed to three Cherry Valley-Springfield goals as the Patriots bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 5-2 Tri-Valley League girls soccer win over Worcester.

CV-S fell to undefeated Schenevus, 2-1, Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The Patriots scored four first-half goals to take control with a three-goal lead at halftime.

“Cherry Valley-Springfield started strong, they just beat us to the ball constantly in the first half,” Worcester coach Jim Kenyon said in an email. “In the second half, my defense played much better. CV-S is a good team.”

Jaelyn Jaquay put CV-S ahead with an unassisted tally six minutes in before Mia Horvath scored with an assist from Lewis two minutes later. Ari Bosc made the deficit three with 20 minutes left in the frame after taking a pass from Alana Latella.

Mackenzie Sutliff scored the first of her two goals to pull Worcester within two, but Lewis struck with a helper from Bosc to extend the gap before at the break.

Lewis scored her second goal 13 minutes into the second half before Sutliff scored a consolation goal later for the Wolverines.

CV-S finished with a 13-8 edge in shots and a 3-1 lead in corners.

Miriam Odell made six stops for Worcester, and Kelsey Girard saved four shots for CV-S.

The Wolverines will visit Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Monday, Oct. 7.

Downsville 3, Walton 1

Zelda Adams struck twice as Downsville scored three second-half goals to come back and defeat Walton in nonleague play.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead into halftime as Grace Rhinehart struck with an assist from Emma Harby.

The Eagles came back with Adams’ pair of goals and a third from McKenzy Brown. Athena Niforatos had an assist in the comeback.

Ellissa Beach made 10 saves for Walton, and Olivia Brunner stopped eight shots for Downsville.

The Eagles finished with a 12-9 lead in shots and a 6-2 edge in corners.

Hunter-Tannersville 5, Gilboa 0

Peyton Legg and Sasha Gazoorian each scored twice as Hunter-Tannersville shut out Gilboa.

H-T scored four first-half goals before tallying once in the second half.

Gazoorian tallied an assist to go along with two goals and a spell as H-T’s goalkeeper.

Justin Iannelli had the other goal and Madison Legg recorded an assist.

Krissy Brandow made five saves for Gilboa, while Rosalie Randolph stopped three for H-T. Gazoorian was not forced to make a save.

H-T led in shots, 10-3, and both teams earned three corners.

Gilboa (3-6-2, 2-4-1) will host South Kortright at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Richfield Springs 2, Milford 2

Jordyn Seamon scored a pair of goals as Richfield Springs overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie Milford on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Taylor Beckley and Julia Barown scored in the first half to give the Wildcats a two-goal advantage at the break.

Seamon notched twice in the second half, once via an assist from Amy Seamon, to knot it.

Milford finished with a 16-3 lead in shots.
