Spencer Lewis scored a game-high 18 points and John Kennedy recorded a double-double for Cooperstown as the Hawkeyes pulled away from visiting Mount Markham, 65-52, in Center State Conference Division III boys basketball Friday, Jan. 3.

The Hawkeyes have won seven straight since an 0-2 start.

Lewis made four 3-pointers and scored 13 of his 18 in the second half as Cooperstown built on a 35-29 halftime lead.

Kennedy finished with 11 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks. Kaishaun Jefferson made it three Hawkeyes in double figures with 13 points on six field goals.

Eddie King led Markham with 12 points, all of them coming from beyond the arc.

Cooperstown (7-2, 3-0) will visit Sauquoit Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Worcester 45, Stamford 26

James Odell scored a game-high 20 points to help Worcester to a non-league boys basketball victory over visiting Stamford on Friday, Jan. 3.

Worcester opened with an 11-0 lead that Stamford cut to one entering the second quarter. The Wolverines did not allow more than six points in any of the remaining periods, however, to pull away.

Odell had six field goals, one of them from beyond the arc, and was 7-for-11 from the foul line for his 20 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds and recorded six assists.

Ryland Evans secured 11 rebounds along with 12 points and three blocks for the Wolverines.

James Olsen, Tyler Tierney and Jude Roderka led Stamford with nine, eight and seven points, respectively.

The Indians were held to four baskets in the second half and finished without a 3-pointer.

Worcester (4-3, 1-1) will host Franklin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Laurens 59, Margaretville 21

Omar Andrades scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the first half to lead host Laurens to a non-league victory over Margaretville.

Andrades scored all 21 of his points from beyond the arc on a season-high seven 3-pointers, five of them coming in the first half.

Jordan Weir had 12 points and eight rebounds while Chris Long finished with seven points and a team-best 12 rebounds for Laurens, which made a season-high 11 3-pointers and held a 37-13 advantage at halftime.

The Leopards attempted 21 3-pointers and also received three 3-pointers for nine points from Brock Mann. Jesse Chase scored eight points on three field goals and a foul shot.

Ivan Herrera and Connor Joedicke shared the team-best with six points and Michael Gavette recorded five points for Margaretville.

Herrera made two 3-pointers and Gavette hit one for the Blue Devils.

Laurens (3-4, 1-1) will host Richfield Springs for a Tri-Valley League game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.
