Jody Bray scored both goals for Delhi as the Bulldogs defeated Sidney, 2-0, Monday, Sept. 30 in Midstate Athletic Conference girls soccer.

Bray deposited her two goals in the first half, giving the Bulldogs their first win in four games.

Silvia Liddle stopped all three shots she faced in goal for Delhi, and Tara Smith made six saves for Sidney.

The Bulldogs finished with 27 shots and 13 corners, while the Warriors managed three shots and one corner.

Delhi (4-2-3) will visit Bainbridge-Guilford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Unatego 6, Walton 0

Unatego scored four goals near the end of the first half to break way from Walton in MAC play.

Hali Lucia got the Spartans on the board with less than six minutes left in the opening period, meeting a cross from Katie Ostrander at the near post and directing a first-time strike for a 1-0 lead.

Paige McCoy made the deficit two before a pair of goals from Dana Stepp put the Warriors in a 4-0 hole at halftime.

“We were being a little impatient and they were keeping us out of the box. We were taking shots from outside that weren’t necessarily quality shots,” Unatego coach Sue Herodes said. “We settled down a little in the second half, moved the ball a lot more and had people in different positions. After we scored we were able to open them up.”

Stepp completed her hat trick in the second half while Morgan Perry notched a goal of her own. Stepp totaled three goals and an assist while Perry had a goal and two assists.

Unatego owned the shot count, 23-1, and took seven corners while allowing zero.

Ellissa Beach made 16 saves for Walton. Meghan Perry and Haleigh Burton each saw time in goal for the Spartans, with Perry making the only save.

Unatego (9-0, 7-0) visits Unadilla Valley at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, for a rematch of last year’s MAC final.

Unadilla Valley 3, Bainbridge-Guilford 1

Tied 1-1 after 40 minutes, Paige Catena and Kadence York scored in the second half to give Unadilla Valley a win against Bainbridge-Guilford.

The Bobcats opened the scoring when Elizabeth DuMond scored with an assist from Kate Roeff at 35:57.

The Storm tied it on an unassisted Piper Kneale tally, bringing it to 1-1 at the half.

Shots were even at 8-8 between the teams, but B-G held the edge in corners, 3-2.

Meegan White was in net for UV and made seven saves in the win. Brielle Armstrong had five saves for the Bobcats.

Unadilla Valley (5-2-1) will host Unatego at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Margaretville 3, Hunter-Tannersville 2

Three first-half goals powered Margaretville past Hunter-Tannersville in Delaware League action.

Natalia Herrera notched two goals and Alivia Cordero had one while Marisol Flores and Kansas Shamro each recorded an assist.

Hunter-Tannersville’s goals came from Justin Iannelli and Peyton Legg. Sasha Gazoorian assisted Iannelli’s goal.

Blue Devils goalie Shyanna Balcom made three saves and Rosalie Randolph had nine for H-T.

Margaretville (8-1, 5-0) will visit Windham at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Franklin 5, Laurens 2

Kayla Campbell’s hat trick, combined with goals from Marissa Campbell and Alyssa Nowhitney, gave Franklin the victory over Laurens.

The Purple Devils potted two goals in the first half before slotting in three more in the second 40. The Leopards scored one goal in each half, both courtesy of Eowyn Chickerell.

Franklin outshot Laurens, 11-5, and concluded with more corners (10-1) as well.

Molly McLaughlin made three saves for the Purple Devils while Kya McNicol had six for the Leopards.

Laurens will host Morris at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Downsville 2, Livingston Manor 0

Zelda Adams scored both goals to highlight Downsville’s win over Livingston Manor.

Adams’ strikes both came in the first half as the Eagles held on for the second 40 minutes to secure the win.

Downsville outshot Manor, 10-4, and finished ahead, 6-1, in corners.

Olivia Brunner compiled four saves in the shutout performance and Melissa Banks made five saves for Livingston Manor.

Downsville (6-4) will host Stamford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.


Oxford 3, Walton 2

Oxford ousted Walton in five games, winning the pivotal fifth game, 25-20.

Daysha Simpson recorded seven aces and 15 assists, Mallory Olsen-Nichols had five aces and seven assists and Karissa Maricle compiled three aces and 10 digs for Oxford.

Hailey Gardner (three aces, 20 assists) led Walton, joined by Jamie Klein (two aces, seven kills, three digs) and Emma Walley (17 kills, one block, five digs).

Walton will host Bainbridge-Guilford at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.
