Sidney to host Alumni game Nov. 27
The Sidney Alumni Basketball Night will tip-off at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at high school gym.
The event, which was held annually from 1992-2004, makes its return after after a 5-year layoff. Money raised will go to a graduating senior who contributed significantly to Sidney's basketball programs.
The cost to play is $10 per person and checks should be made out to the Sidney Alumni Basketball Association. Players are asked to bring a maroon and white or gray shirts.
The schedule is as follows:
Registration, shoot-around, pickup games a shooting contest from 1-4 p.m.; first-half of the old-Timers Game (35 and older), 6 p.m.; first-half of the Lady Warriors Game, 6:30 p.m.; first half of the Young Guns Game, 7 p.m.; second half of the Old-Timers Game, 7:30 p.m.; second-half of the Lady Warriors Game, 8 p.m.; and second half of the Young Guns Game, 8:30 p.m.
The Sidney Booster Club will sell refreshments. Prizes will be awarded for the shooting contest and MVPs.
Admission is free. A post-game reception for players, alumni and friends will be held at the Clubhouse Restaurant at the Sidney Golf & Country Club.

Drago Tournament tips off Tuesday
Oneonta High will host its annual Anthony C. Drago Tip-Off Tournament for boys and girls basketball beginning Tuesday.
The boys tournament starts at 3 p.m. Tuesday with OHS' junior varsity boys team playing Seton Catholic Central at 3 p.m. The other boys JV game pits Elmira Southside against Johnson City at 4:45 p.m. The varsity tournament gets underway at 6:30 p.m., with Elmira SS opposing JC. OHS faces Seton CC at 8:15 p.m. in Tuesday's final game.
On Nov. 26, the boys JV consolation and championship games will be played at 3 and 4:45 p.m., respectively. The varsity consolation is at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the championship at 8:15 p.m.
On the girls side, play begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday with OHS' JV team facing Windsor at 3 p.m. Vestal and Newfield will play in the other JV semifinal at 4:45 p.m. Vestal and Gloversville open the varsity tournament at 6:30 p.m. and OHS plays Windsor at 8:15 p.m.
The Yellowjackets' varsity team has advanced to the Class B state final each of the last two seasons.
Bob Zeh, who coached OHS girls the past 10 seasons before stepping down after the 2009-10 campaign, will be honored before the OHS girls opener.
The girls tournament concludes Nov. 27, with games at 1 p.m. (JV consolation), 2:45 p.m. (JV championship), 4:30 p.m. (varsity consolation) and 6:15 p.m. (varsity championship).
Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for students.

OBGC to host lacrosse Mondays
LacrosseOneonta will run its winter session at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club on Mondays through Jan. 24.
Boys and girls in grades 3-7 will play from 5-7 p.m., followed by grades 8-12 from 7-9 p.m.
Participants must be OBGC members. The program is free. A limited amount of extra equipment is available for beginners.

OBGC hoop shoot Saturday
The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will host the Elks Hoop Shoot from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday.
The event is free and open to boys and girls ages 8-13. Birth certificates are required to register.

A general interest meeting for those who wish to referee USSF soccer matches is set for 1-2 p.m. Dec. 12 in Oneonta.

Club to close during hunting season
The Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club will lock its gates and close its range during the 2010 hunting season.
Club members hunting on club property are asked to wear GR&GC badges (green logo button). Four-wheelers must be ridden on the edges of the Club property, which will be posted.
During bow season, traps and the rifle range may be used. Driving will not be allowed during the first week of rifle season.
Baseball club accepting registrations
The Stamford Blue Jays are accepting registration for its new 14U baseball team.
Players born after April 30, 1996 may join. Players must travel to local games and out-of-town tournaments.
The club also will host a high school exhibition series near Cooperstown in late April, as well as three-game summer tournaments for players ages 13-18.
