Drago tourney to start today
The Oneonta High boys basketball team will host the 55th Anthony C. Drago Tip-Off Tournament on today and Friday.
Oneonta’s junior varsity team will open the event at 3 p.m. today against Seton Catholic Central. The Unatego and Johnson City JV teams will follow at 4:45 p.m.
The varsity portion of the tournament begins with Unatego meeting Johnson City at 6:30 p.m. today. OHS and Seton will close the first day with an 8:15 p.m. game.
Friday’s second round starts with the JV consolation at 1 p.m., followed by the JV title game at 2:45 p.m. The varsity consolation and championship games will start at 4:30 and 6:15 p.m., respectively.
Tickets cost $2 for adults and $1 for students per day.
Turkey Trot set for Thursday
Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care will host its first Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, a 5-kilometer run/walk, on Thursday at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club.
The event will begin and end at the OBGC on 70 River St. in Oneonta. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The trot starts at 9 a.m.
Entry fee is $20 and includes a long-sleeved T-shirt. To register, visit the website Hospice5k.com.
The event will include a memorial balloon release. Proceeds will help fund Catskill Area Hospice’s “Perfect Gift” program.

Girls Drago tourney to open Dec. 7
The Oneonta High girls basketball team will host the Anthony C. Drago Tournament from Dec. 7-8.
The Dec. 7 openers are Oneonta’s JV against Owego at 1 p.m.; Our Lady of Lourdes JV versus Cicero-North Syracuse at 2:45 p.m.; Oneonta’s varsity against Owego at 4:30 p.m.; and OLL’s varsity versus C-NS at 6:15 p.m.
On Dec. 8, the 11 a.m. JV consolation will be followed by the JV championship at 12:45 p.m., the varsity consolation at 2:30 p.m., and the varsity title game at 4:15 p.m.
Tickets cost $2 for adults and $1 for students per day.
Golf league starts soon
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens is accepting teams for its winter golf simulator league.
Two-person teams play captain-and-mate weekly and post their scores against the field to move up the money list. Teams may play any time seven days a week, but tee times are required.
The league starts the first week of December and runs until the last week in March. Teams may make up missed weeks or play matches in advance.
One-time league dues cost $20 per person and go toward the 100-percent cash payout based on the results of the money list. Weekly fees cost $10 per person for non-members or $8 per Colonial Ridge Golf member.

Simulators are also available seven days a week by appointment. The course will remain open, weather-permitting.
The course and the simulators will be closed Nov. 27-29.
Youth conditioning classes set
The Oneonta Family YMCA will offer Youth Sports Conditioning at the Center Street School gym from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The program is open to area youths in grades 6 through age 18 and runs through Dec. 13.

O-State to hold baseball clinic
Oneonta State will host its Baseball Holiday High School Clinic from 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 15 at the college’s Alumni Field House.
Registration runs from 8:30-9 a.m. and costs $35 per camper. The clinic is open to high school players in the classes of 2014-17.
The clinic will focus on defense, hitting, throwing and pitching drills. Bullpens and batting practice will take place at the end of the clinic.

O-State softball clinic Dec. 15
Oneonta State will hold a softball clinic from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 15 at Alumni Field House.
Registration runs from noon-1 p.m. and costs $30 per player.
The clinic will focus on hitting, defense, pitching and catching and will be open to all students in the 2014-17 graduating classes.

Delhi announces pool hours
SUNY Delhi’s pool schedule through Dec. 15 is as follows.
Lap Swim: 7-8 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
Open Swim: 8-9:30 p.m. (M,W,F); 9-10 p.m. (Tue); 7-9 p.m. (F); 1-5 p.m. (Sat-Sun).
The pool will close for October break at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 and re-open Oct. 16.
There will be no open swim Nov. 23 (college swim meet).
The pool will close for the Thanksgiving break at noon Nov. 25 and re-open Dec. 2.
Volleyball sign-ups set
The Oneonta Recreation Department is accepting registrations from returning men’s and women’s volleyball teams. A team must return at least 75 percent of its roster from last season to qualify as a returning team.
Pending available space, registrations will be accepted from new teams beginning Dec. 13. Registration will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 19. The program will accept 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams.
All matches will be played at the Asa C. Allison Municipal building in Oneonta. Men will play Tuesday evenings starting Jan. 7. Women will play Wednesday evenings starting Jan. 9.
Entry fee is $300 per team. The team fee must be paid in full and a preliminary roster must be submitted to register. No cash payments will be accepted.

Lacrosse sessions run Mondays
LacrosseOneonta’s winter session at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will run Mondays through Jan. 13, 2014.
Boys and girls in grades 3-7 will play between 6-7 p.m., followed by grades 8-12 from 7-9 p.m.
Cost is free, but participants must be members of the OBGC.

Hall accepting intern applications
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting applications for next year’s class at the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Leadership Development.
Applications for the Class of 2014 will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2014. The Steele Internship Program will provide students the chance to join the Hall in a 10-week summer internship.
To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year. Fifteen intern positions are available.
