SUNYAC Pool Play

Host Oneonta State split two matches Friday in the SUNYAC East Division Pool Play Tournament.

The Red Dragons (8-6) lost to New Paltz, 33-35, 30-15, 30-27, 30-26, in their first match before beating SUNYIT, 30-26, 30-24, 30-21.

Against New Paltz, senior Cait Welch had 14 kills and 25 digs. Classmate Ashley Gerace had a team-high 22 assists and senior Katie Darcangelo had 23 digs.

Junior Courtney Wavercak and sophomore Jillian Richards led Oneonta with five kills each against SUNYIT.

Freshmen Kelsey Klopfer had 15 digs, and classmates Brianna Slutsky and Michelle Ngai had 10 and 16 assists, respectively.

The Red Dragons will complete the first weekend of SUNYAC pool play Saturday with three matches beginning at 10 a.m. against Plattsburgh. Their final two matches will be against Cortland at 1 p.m. and Potsdam at 3 p.m.

Men's Soccer

Cobleskill 2, Alb. Pharm. 0

Essaha Jallow scored two goals as Cobleskill remained undefeated with a non-league home victory Friday.

Rilwan Salawu and Lucas Heffron each had assists for the Fighting Tigers (8-0), ranked second among NJCAA Division III teams.

Cobleskill plays at Mohawk Valley Community College on Monday.

Danny Bruh scored in the 39th minute and teammate Keith Manscuk scored nine minutes later as visiting O-State improved to 2-0 in the SUNY Athletic Conference.

Bruh's goal came on a throughball from Larry Pestana and Manscuk scored on a penalty shot after Michael Mahoney was taken down from behind in the box.

Jonathan Korn made one save for the Red Dragons (3-4, 2-0), which outshot Buffalo State (2-3-1, 0-2), 18-10.

Oneonta plays at Fredonia at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Women's Soccer

Cobleskill 2, Holyoke 1

Dana Hamm scored both goals in the first half as Cobleskill improved to 2-4 with a non-league road victory.

Kayla Wisniewski and Erin Pelkey each had assists for the Fighting Tigers, who play at Clinton Community College at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
