Kaileen Townsend scored three goals Thursday to lead host Downsville to a first-round victory in the Jane Flannery Tournament as the Eagles downed Sullivan West, 3-1, in girls soccer.

Townsend scored twice in the first half of the 2013 opener for the Eagles, who have shared the Delaware League crossover championship the last two seasons.

Kasie Banker stopped two shots for Downsville, which plays Livingston Manor for the tournament title at noon Saturday.

Carly Grishaber scored 1:30 into the first-round game for Sullivan West, which plays Walton in the consolation game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

LM 3, Walton 0

Ami Callo had a goal and an assist to lift Livingston Manor to a first-round victory in the Jane Flannery Tournament at Downsville.

Lilly Siniscalchi made 11 saves for Walton (0-2), which plays Sullivan West at 10 a.m. Saturday in the consolation game.

SW fell, 3-1, to Downsville in Thursday’s other first-round game. Downsville will meet Livingston Manor for the title at noon Saturday.

Delhi 4, Jefferson 0

Casey Steffens scored two goals to lead Delhi to an opening-round win in the Stamford Mayor’s Cup.

Melissa Conrad assisted Steffens’ first goal, which came 18 minutes into the game.

Conrad, who had two assists, contributed a second-half goal when she headed in a shot with 10 minutes to play in the Bulldogs’ season opener.

Chelsea Cika also scored for Delhi, which finished with a 41-7 advantage in shots.

Delhi advanced to a Mayor’s Cup winners’ bracket game against Stamford at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Edmeston 2, RS 0

Paige Bressett opened the scoring on a penalty kick with 9:34 left in the first half, helping Edmeston to its first victory of the season.

Kelsey Bressett made it 2-0 a minute before halftime with an unassisted goal for the Panthers (1-2, 1-1), who received nine saves from Catherine Johnson.

Vanessa Miller stopped 12 shots for Richfield Springs (0-2, 0-2), which visits Worcester today.

Edmeston travels to Morris, which has shared the Tri-Valley League title with Milford for the last two seasons, on Monday.


at Delhi College GC

Matt Soule shot a match-low 45 to lead Andes/South Kortright to its first win of the season, 203-228, against Stamford at the Delhi College Golf Course.

James Vlahakis shot a team-best 53 for Stamford.

Andes/SK (1-5, 1-4) will face Jefferson on Monday back at the Delhi College GC.

at Windham CC

Dylan Legg earned medalist honors with a 7-over-par 42 at the Windham Country Club, but visiting Hunter-Tannersville fell, 183-212, to Windham in the Delaware League.

Dan Marino’s 43 paced the Warriors (7-0, 5-0), who host Stamford on Monday.
