If you're a fan of basketball doubleheaders, Friday's snowstorm created the perfect environment.

Oneonta High, Cooperstown, South Kortright and Moravia will host doubleheaders involving area teams Saturday.

The boys and girls teams from OHS and Cooperstown were scheduled to play back-to-back Friday, but now, they'll do so Saturday.

The top-seeded Yellowjackets girls, in search of a fourth straight sectional title, will play No. 8 Chenango Valley (7-11) at 1 p.m. Saturday. At 2:45 p.m., Oneonta's second-seeded boys will oppose No. 10 Windsor (2-16).

Cooperstown's boys and girls are both seeded first for the Section Three Class C-1 Tournament. The Redskins girls (14-3) will play Little Falls at 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by Cooperstown's boys (16-2) against Pulaski at 4 p.m. Both games are C-1 quarterfinals.

South Kortright's boys and girls, who are a combined 35-1 this season, open sectional play Saturday after receiving first-round byes as top seeds.

SK's boys (18-0), who have won the last two Section Four Class D titles, start at 4 p.m. against No. 9 Stamford (11-7). The Rams girls (17-1) follow against No. 8 Downsville at 6 p.m. The girls game was originally scheduled for Friday.

In a Section Four Class C doubleheader, Moravia's second-seeded girls (14-3) will play No. 7 Walton (13-4) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, before Moravia's boys (19-0) take on No. 8 Unatego (13-6). Poor weather forced the girls game to be rescheduled from Friday night.

The following is Saturday's schedule for the other area teams in classes C and D:

Section Four Class C boys: 5-Sidney (17-2) at 4-Groton (14-3), 7 p.m.; 7-Walton (13-5) at 2-Elmira Notre Dame (16-2), 7 p.m.

Section Four Class D boys: 7-Hunter-Tannersville (13-6) at 2-Hancock (12-5), 5 p.m.; 5-Jefferson (15-3) at 4-Cherry Valley-Springfield (16-3), 5 p.m.; 6-Gilbertsville-Mount Upton (14-5) at 3-Edmeston (14-3), 7 p.m.

Section Four Class C girls: 5-Bainbridge-Guilford (16-3) at 4-Marathon (13-5), 2 p.m.

Section Four Class D girls: 5-Jefferson (15-3) at 4-G-MU (15-3), 2 p.m.; 6-Morris (12-5) at 3-Schenevus (15-4), 7 p.m.; 7-Edmeston (12-5) at 2-Davenport (16-3), 7 p.m.

The storm also postponed the Section Four State Qualifiers for indoor track, which were slated to run Friday at Cornell University. OHS athletic director Joe Hughes said Friday afternoon that there is no make-up date for the state qualifiers yet.
