Falvo, Konchar win SBA event

Lou Falvo and Anthony Konchar won the Susquehanna Bass Association's Dave's Auto Care Open this past Sunday on Saratoga Lake.

Falvo and Konchar filled the five-fish limit at 11.71 pounds, .41 ahead of second-place Gary Edwards and John Burnside.

Mike Tinkler and Bill Maynard finished third at 10.56 pounds, which included Tinkler's lunker of the day _ a 20-inch largemouth bass that weighed 4.10 pounds. Ben Hoag and Bob Gray finished fourth at 9.97 pounds.

Don Ruetter caught the big smallmouth of the day, at 16 inches and 2.05 pounds.

The SBA will host the Reel Men Fishing Guides tournament from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday on Canadarago Lake.

Locals ace holes at Colonial Ridge

Charlie Fairchild of Mount Vision hit a hole-in-one on the sixth hole at Colonial Ridge Golf on Aug. 18.

Fairchild used a 7-wood to sink his tee shot on the par-3, 172-yard hole during the Senior Club Championship. Ralph Leach, Walter Engstrom and Howard Backus witnessed the shot.

 Oneonta resident Chris Harmon also had a recent hole-in-one at Colonial, acing the 119-yard par-3 13th hole during the Match Play Championship. Harmon, who used a pitching wedge, won the hole and his match with the shot, which was witnessed by Levi Decker of Morris.
