Two Tri-Valley League heavyweights _ visiting Cherry Valley-Springfield and Morris _ played to a 0-0 boys soccer tie Monday.

"Every time, we've played better against them," Morris coach Dave Sander said of losing by 6-0, 4-0 scores last season to the Patriots and a 2-0 setback earlier this season. "We controlled the first half slightly and they controlled the second half. Both teams had opportunities and both teams hit the crossbar."

Mustangs keeper Kerry Smith finished with 12 saves _ eight more than counterpart Andrew Bosc.

Sander said along with Smith, who made a diving save in the first overtime on a low shot and a finger-tip grab in the second overtime, sweeper Andrew Dogherty played his best game of the season.

Both teams lead their respective divisions and haven't been beaten in league play. The Patriots, coming off a 17-1 season, are the defending league champions.

The Mustangs (7-1-1, 6-0-1) travel to Milford on Thursday.
