Heading into the third inning Sunday, Oneonta Tigers hitters were in the midst of a nightmarish skid.

But Joe Bowen's double to start the third inning ended a string of 12 2/3 hitless innings and the O-Tigers went on to get 10 more hits in their 8-7 victory at Tri-City.

Oneonta's futility at the plate started after Bowen hit a one-out, RBI double to cap the scoring in the Tigers' 9-1 victory over the ValleyCats on Friday.

Three Tri-City pitchers then combined to no-hit the Tigers in their home opener Saturday, a 10-0 loss to the ValleyCats.

When T-C starter Robert Bono retired Oneonta in order through the first two innings Sunday, the hitless skid reached 12 2/3 innings.

But Bowen doubled to right to open the third inning and scored on a two-out single to left by Ben Guez to tie the score at 1.

The second of Phil Disher's two homers _ a three-run shot to left in the bottom of the third _ gave the ValleyCats a 5-1 lead, but the Tigers answered with four runs in the top of the fourth.

Joaquin Guzman opened the inning with a double to right and scored on Keith Stein's one-out double to left. Bryan Pounds and Mike Gosse hit RBI singles later in the inning to tie the score at 4.

Oneonta then scored three more times in the fifth, an inning aided by three Tri-City throwing errors to start the inning.

Guez reached on a throwing error by third baseman Ebert Rosario. Guzman got on a throwing error by first baseman Disher that sent Guez to second.

Hayden Parrott's groundout to third moved the runners to second and third.

Carlos Ramirez then reached on a fielder's choice grounder to short as Guez scored to make it 6-5. Tri-City shortstop Jeff Hulett tried to get Guzman at third, but his throw was off line, leaving runners at first and third.

After Kirkland Rivers relieved losing pitcher Bono (0-2), Keith Stein's bunt single toward third scored Guzman and sent Ramirez to second.

Both runners moved up on a wild pitch before Pounds' single to center plated Ramirez to make it 8-5.

Tri-City pulled to 8-6 in the sixth. Disher led off with a double and Rosario reached on a throwing error by Guzman. Andrew Simunic's groundout to second moved the runners to second and third, and Disher scored on Reinaldo Pestana's sacrifice fly to left.

In the eighth inning, Tri-City made it a one-run game when Jonathan Gaston reached on a fielding error by Joaquin Guzman, took second on a throwing error by Guzman, and scored on a Simunic's two-out single to right.

Tylor Stohr worked around a two-out walk to Hulett in the ninth to get the save. Stohr struck out two.

Trevor Feeney earned the victory, going three innings after relieving O-Tigers starter Mark Brackman to start the fourth inning.

Brackman allowed five runs on six innings over three innings.

Feeney (1-0) had four strikeouts, no walks and allowed one unearned run.

Luis Gil also allowed an unearned run over two innings. He struck out two and didn't walk anyone.

Guzman, Stein, Pounds and Gosse all had two hits for the O-Tigers (4-2), who begin a three-game series against the Lowell Spinners at 7 tonight at Damaschke Field.
