Oneonta High’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Stephanie Havens, Danielle Emilio, Erin Bischoff and Lucy Bischoff held off Binghamton by a second to give the host Yellowjackets a 92-91 Southern Tier Athletic Conference victory Tuesday.

Lucy Bischoff swam the anchor leg and touched in 4 minutes, 19.3 seconds. OHS coach Teresa Burr said OHS led throughout in the meet’s final event.

The Yellowjackets also received wins from Lucy Bischoff in the 100 backstroke (1:11.2) and Madison Allen in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.78).

The Patriots won the other events.

“We had a number of races where came second, third and fourth, or second, fourth and fifth,” Burr said. “It was definitely a team effort. We had three girls in every event get points.”

Oneonta (1-2) will travel to Chenango Forks on Friday.

VOLLEYBALL

Oneonta 3, Johnson City 0

Kelsey Baker had seven kills and Krissy Wells contributed 10 assists as visiting Oneonta ran its record to 5-0 with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-17 Southern Tier Athletic Conference victory.

Hayley Dower and Amelia Spaziani contributed nine digs and four aces, respectively, for the Yellowjackets.

“We played very consistent ball,” OHS coach Lee Ferrara said. “The first set we started slowly. We missed five serves, which is a lot. But we ended up putting our game together. JC is a very dangerous team. It’s very frustrating playing against them because they ball back over the net. A lot of times, we had to put the ball down two or three times to win a point, but we kept at it and did a nice job.”

Oneonta plays host to Windsor on Thursday.

Greene 3, Unatego 0

Kayli Benedict had three aces and three kills Monday, but visiting Unatego fell to 0-6 with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-15 loss in the MAC.

Jill McDaniels finished with six aces and eight assists for the Trojans (4-2), who host Whitney Point on Thursday.

The Spartans host Hancock on Friday.

BOYS SOCCER

Unatego 5, CV 1

Troy White had a goal and two assists to lead Unatego to a non-league road victory Monday.

Phil Youngs contributed a goal and an assist for the Spartans (6-0), who finished with a 22-3 advantage in shots.

GIRLS SOCCER

UV 1, Greene 0

Taylor Davis scored in the second half for Unadilla Valley, which won a Midstate Athletic Conference road game Monday.

Jordan Anderson stopped nine shots for the Storm, who held a 13-10 edge in shots.

FIELD HOCKEY

Greene 5, Afton 0

Emily Conroe scored twice for Greene, which cruised to a Section Four victory at home Monday.

Victoria Lent made 17 saves for Afton, which trailed, 4-0, at halftime.

GOLF

SV 224, Oneonta 229

Mitchel Couch shot a 3-over-par 39 on Monday at the Conklin Players Club, but Oneonta High dropped a Southern Tier Athletic Conference match to Susquehanna Valley.

DJ Griffiths of SV earned medalist honors with a 37.

JD Courtney contributed a 42 for the Yellowjackets.
