Outlaws fail to hold lead vs. Red Wings

Matt Tsukroff went 2-for-5 with a home run for Oneonta on Thursday, but the Outlaws let a late lead slip away and fell to the visiting Geneva Red Wings, 9-8.

Ian Fair went 3-for-5 with a double and scored two runs in the win. Oneonta’s Brendan Brundage also went 3-for-5 with a double, and had an RBI of his own.

Andrew Workman came on in the 9th to close out the game with Oneonta leading, 8-7, but gave up two earned runs on three hits in the inning to earn the loss.

Oneonta (11-24) hosts Onondaga at 7 p.m. Friday.



Binghamton 8, Oneonta 1

Oneonta’s Dalton Carver had two singles and an RBI on Wednesday, but the Green Wave fell to Binghamton Post-80 in the Winner’s Bracket Final of the District Six Tournament at Conlon Field.

For Oneonta’s only run, Teddy McGraw, who had reached on an error and advanced to third on a Keaton Mark double, scored on an RBI ground out by Carver in the fourth. The score became, 8-1, after his run.

Maine-Endwell 9, Oneonta 6

At Conlon Field on Wednesday Keaton Mark had three hits and two runs, but the Green Wave fell to Maine-Endwell Post-1700 in the Loser’s Bracket Final of the District Six Tournament.

Dalton Carver and Sean MacInerney each had two hits for Oneonta, which scored two runs in both the second and seventh inning. Carver scored two runs.

John Mikolaicyk also hit a two-run home run for the Green Wave, who finished in third place in the tournament. The results of Thursday’s title game between Maine-Endwell and Binghamton were unavailable by press time

‘‘I was very happy with the season, and the guys never quit,’’ said Oneonta coach Mike Jester, whose team conclude its season at 18-11, ‘‘It’s hard to win a District Six Tournament. The goal is to always win in the District Six Tournament.’’ Oneonta last won the District Six Tournament in 2011.
