Outlaws fall to Blue Sox in seven innings


Outlaws pitcher Cal Lawrence throws a pitch in the first inning of Thursday’s game against the Utica Blue Sox in Oneonta.

The Outlaws had just one hit in Thursday's match-up against the visiting Utica Blue Sox, and Oneonta fell, 4-2, in seven innings.

Brendan Brundage managed the lone hit for the Outlaws on a single in the bottom of the fourth. He finished 1-for-2 on the night.

Cal Lawrence, who got the start for Oneonta, went 4.2 innings and allowed six hits and four earned runs. Lawrence also walked five and struck out five.

Utica starter Garret Keough pitched a complete game and struck out three.

The teams were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. A rain delay pushed first pitch passed 8 p.m. A doubleheader was scheduled after a July 7 game was postponed due to rain. The Outlaws (13-28) next visit the Glens Falls Dragons at 7 p.m. Friday.
