Outlaws rally late to defeat visiting Flames

Mike Brown had a game-high three RBIs and four hits for the Outlaws on Tuesday, and Oneonta defeated the visiting Onondaga Flames, 8-5.

In six innings, Oneonta starter Jake Hershman allowed two earned runs, three hits and five walks. Hershman also struck out six. In two innings of relief, winning pitcher Matt Deans struck out two and allowed one hit. Trailing, 5-2, entering the seventh inning, Oneonta scored four runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to take the lead for good.

The Outlaws (9-22) host the Amsterdam Mohawks at 7 p.m. Wednesday.


Bunzey, Gould win

At Onondaga Lake this past Sunday, the team of Joe Bunzey and Ryan Gould caught five fish weighing a combined 18.22 pounds to win the Susquehanna Bass Association's McNeil Jewelers Summer Slam Bass Tournament.

Bunzey also caught the lunker of the day (20 inches long and 5.04 pounds). The team of Vic VanSteenburg and Brad Dick caught five fish weighing a combined 14.85 pounds to place second. Anthony Gurdo caught the big smallmouth of the day (18 inches long and 2.90 pounds).

The Susquehanna Bass Association will next host the B. Roberts Agency Open on July 23. The competition will take place at Saratoga Lake from 6 a.m.-2 p.m.


Foursome wins the Rally

for a Cure Tournament

On Tuesday, Andrea Dibble, Kim Eighmey, Chrissy Bouton and Lori Mercadante had a combined net score of 46 to win the Rally for a Cure Golf Tournament, hosted by The College Golf Course at Delhi.

Barb Funck, Anna, Kari and Martha Blish had a combined net score of 49 to place second. Kathy Jordan, Cindy Lawrence, Bea Mora-Hull and Elaine O'Mara-Hulbert finished the day with a gross score of 69, the best score in the flight. 

Miller wins scratch

In the scratch (gross scoring) division, Bruce Miller shot a 72, the lowest first round score, and a 73 in the second round to win the two-day Men's Club Championship at the Oneonta Country Club this past weekend. 

Todd Carrington had the lowest round in the flight, a second round score of 70, and placed second with a total score of 146.

In the net flight (handicap) division, Bryan Squaires defeated Rick Weinberg in a playoff to win the competition. The two each had a two-round score of 140.

Ciaravino, Hull win

The team of Brian Ciaravino and David Hull had a two round score of 145 to win the Tavern-Two Man Tournament at the Shephard Hills Golf Club this past weekend. The duo shot a tournament best 70 in the second round

Mike Hynes and Ken Haskin finished at 146 to place second, and Matt Walker and Richie Ellsworth placed third with a score of 147.
