Inclement weather interrupted local sports Friday, Feb. 7, with local schools rescheduling most of the day’s events.
The second round of the Tri-Valley League boys basketball playoffs will feature five second-round games early next week.
Top-seeded Edmeston will host No. 4 Morris at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in a semifinal previously set for Friday. The other semifinal, in which second seed Richfield Springs will host No. 6 Cherry Valley-Springfield, will also be played at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Other games in the TVL boys tournament will include No. 3 Laurens hosting No. 7 Worcester at 7 p.m. Tuesday. No. 5 Sharon Springs will host eight seed Milford at 7:30 p.m. Monday, and No. 9 Gilbertsville-Mount Upton will host 11th seed Schenevus at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
On the girls side, top seed Cherry Valley-Springfield will host fourth seed Edmeston at 7 p.m. Monday. The game was previously scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6, before being postponed to Friday and eventually, Monday. The winner will earn a clash with Franklin in the TVL final.
Three girls basketball games in the Midstate Athletic Conference were also pushed to early next week. Unatego will visit Sidney at 7:15 p.m. Monday, and Unadilla Valley will visit Oxford at the same time on the same date.
Delhi will visit rival Walton the following night, with a 5:30 p.m. tip slated for Tuesday.
Hartwick College also postponed the weekend’s men’s and women’s basketball games.
The Hartwick men were slated to host St. John Fisher at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, but the game was postponed to Saturday at 2 p.m. The women’s basketball game between the schools was moved from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Saturday’s contests against Nazareth were pushed to Sunday, Feb. 9. The men’s game will begin at 2 p.m. before the women’s game at 4 p.m.
