Schenevus softball's offense overwhelms CV-S

Alexis Hults, Patricia Biegel and Hannah Osborne each had two hits for the Schenevus softball team, and the host Dragons beat Cherry Valley-Springfield, 16-6, for a league win on Tuesday.

In the win, Hults hit two doubles, as did Biegel, Osborne and Erika Sprange. Schenevus scored nine runs in the first two innings.

Megan Walke struck out four over six innings pitched for Schenevus (1-0), which hosts Richfield Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Skyler Gerrard hit a double, and Zoey Horning hit a triple for CV-S, which scored their six runs over the last four innings.

Oneonta 2, Owego 0

Jordan Gaisford and Michelle Rossi both had RBI singles to lead visiting Oneonta High to a Southern Tier Athletic Conference win over Owego on Tuesday.

Gaisford gave the Yellowjackets a 1-0 advantage with a RBI single in the fourth inning, and Rossi increased her team’s lead with a RBI-single in the fifth inning.

‘‘We’ve been hitting the ball well,’’ said OHS coach Randy Brockway. Meredith Smithling and Ally Baker each hit a double in the win.

Baker went 2-for-3 at the plate for Oneonta (3-0), which visits Chenango Forks at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Kenzie Wood had a double for Owego, which had five hits.

Morris 22, Roxbury 0

Morris pitcher Kaleigh Spencer struck out six and allowed three hits and one walk on Tuesday, and Morris easily handled visiting Roxbury.

Reanen Goodspeed had a game-high four hits in the win, and eight of Morris’ players had a multi-hit game.


Roxbury 5, Margaretville 1

Brendan Reidlinger, Nick Dorrance, Dylan Reed and Christina Ianniello each earned single wins to lead Roxbury to a win over visiting Margaretville on Tuesday.

Reidlinger won his first singles match against Margaretville’s Casey Serdiouk, as the two were tied at nine apiece, but Reidlinger won the tie-breaking set, 8-6.

Dorrnace won his singles match against Magaretville’s Robbie Johnson, 10-8. Reed and Ianniello received their wins in the fourth and fifth singles match for Roxbury (1-2).

In doubles play, the pairing of Roin Dee and Bella Stock beat Margaretville’s Victoria Maria and Denali Finkle, 9-4.

Margaretville’s Victoria Janis defeated Mika Garcia in her singles match, 9-5.

Cooperstown 5, Morrisville-Eaton 0

John Kelly beat Dylan Stoddard, 6-3, 6-3, in his singles match for Cooperstown, and the Hawkeyes swept Morrisville-Eaton at home on Tuesday.

Will Weldon earned a win in his singles match for Cooperstown, 3-0, 2-0, and teammate Noah Lifgren earned the final singles victory, 7-5, 6-1.

Tyler Bertram and Pierce Snyder won their doubles match, 6-0, 6-0, for Cooperstown. Delaney Holohan and Reed Porter also won 6-0, 6-0 for the Hawkeyes.

Windham 6, Hunter-Tannersville 1

Penjing Sherpa defeated Chase Plattner, 9-7, to earn a singles win, and Windham earned a Delaware League win at home on Tuesday.

Trent Post, John Hewitt and Bethany Kletz each had singles wins for the Warriors.

Joe Lane and Chad Stang won their doubles match, 9-3, for Windham.

Erik Kappel defeated Lucas Knudsen 9-2, to pick up a win at second singles for Hunter-Tannersville. Windham (3-1) will travel to Margaretville at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
