Brothers Stanley Andersen and Ben Andersen were two of four scorers for South Kortright as the Rams defeated Davenport, 5-1, in the first round of boys soccer Mayor's Cup action.

"The younger kids are filling in spots and the guys who were role players last year are taking a bigger part in it," SK coach Bob Van Valkenburgh said. "Two goalies have been working out well, so I'm happy with the start."

Brandon Grommeck made two saves and Patrick Dengler stopped one shot for the Rams. Ryan Zuill made 10 saves for Davenport.

Stevens scored what proved to be the winning goal eight minutes into the second half, sending a low free kick into the box that reached the far corner without another touch. Cintron got his second minutes later to extend a two-goal deficit.

Milford coach Gregg Eggleston highlighted the play of Darrick West and Lawson Williams as his team held Windham to eight shots and two corners while producing 20 shots and five corners.

Louie Banker played a part in two of three second-half goals for Downsville as the Eagles started the season with a win.

After a scoreless first half, Downsville took the lead with just more than 24 minutes remaining. Banker gained possession following a Walton punt, feeding a through pass to Kyle Fitch who finished into the side netting.

AJ Ruiz made the lead two almost nine minutes later, dribbling past a few Walton defenders before finishing a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Banker got his goal late in the second half, scoring unassisted to extend the final deficit to three.

"We just had an overall good game," Downsville coach Dustin Keesler said. "We are starting five freshman, so we have a young team and I was particularly happy with how our defense played and how we played as a team."

Downsville owned a 17-6 lead in shots and a 5-4 advantage in corners.
