Nick Lamoreaux finished with 150 yards on 15 carries, notching three rushing scores and four total touchdowns to lead Walton to a 40-14 win over Greene on Saturday, Nov. 2, in a Section IV Class D semifinal at Johnson City.

Kaylieb Stanton started the Walton scoring with a two-yard run as the Warriors took a 20-0 lead after one quarter. Lamoreaux followed with a 59-yard score before Dylan Jacob found Cody Ray for a 62-yard touchdown pass.

Greene got on the scoreboard in the second quarter as Noah Kennedy caught a touchdown pass from Nate Parker and Nate Erickson scored on a four-yard run. But Lamoreaux’s 38-yard interception return for a touchdown kept the deficit at two possessions, 26-14, at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, and Lamoreaux’s fourth-quarter scores of nine and 11 yards coupled with a second-half shutout as Walton advanced to the section final.

Skylar Pesout followed Lamoreaux on the ground for Walton, carrying nine times for 60 yards. Stanton finished with 13 yards on eight carries along with the touchdown, while Alex Brooker, Morgan Condon and Max Jacob each surpassed twenty yards on the ground for the Warriors.

Jacob completed five of his seven passing attempts and finished with 119 yards and the first-quarter touchdown to Ray. Ray recorded team bests with four catches and 108 yards.

Walton (8-1) will play top-seeded and state No. 1 Tioga in the section final at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, back at Johnson City.

Tioga 41, Delhi 20

Tioga scored 35 consecutive points to defeat Delhi on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the other Section IV Class D semifinal at Johnson City.

Mike Griswold found Tyler Bruce for a six-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter that gave the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead after one.

The next 35 points went to Tioga, which scored 14 in the second and 21 in the third for a 35-6 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Bruce caught a second touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, this time a 71-yard effort from Luke Branigan. Warren Pardee ran in from 10 yards later in the period.

Branigan completed seven of his 13 passes for 170 yards, while Bruce recorded four catches for 92 yards.

Warren Pardee finished with 21 carries for a team-best 84 yards and one touchdown.

Tioga’s Emmett Wood was dominant in the ground game for Tioga, carrying 31 times for 281 yards and all six of Tioga’s scores.

Delhi finished at 6-3.

Unatego 30, Groton 14

Leo Temple had two rushing touchdowns in the second half to help Unatego defeat Groton in the Spartans’ final game of the season Friday, November 1.

Temple finished with 11 carries for 112 yards and scored his first touchdown from 37 yards with 10:35 left in the third quarter. That put the Spartans ahead, 16-0, and started a 22-point second half.

Temple ran in his second touchdown from 31 yards with 11:50 remaining in the fourth quarter to increase Unatego’s advantage to 24-6. Notorious Gue capped off the Spartans’ scoring spurt with an 11-yard touchdown run with 6:52 remaining.

Jacob Stevens recorded 11 carries for a team-best 119 yards and ran in the game’s first touchdown from 19 yards to put Unatego ahead, 6-0, with 6:02 remaining in the first quarter.

The Spartans conclude their season at 2-7.

Dryden 54, Oneonta 41

Graham Wooden contributed two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns, but Oneonta fell to visiting Dryden on Wednesday, October 30.

The Yellowjackets conclude the season at 2-7.

Wooden completed 18 of his 33 passing attempts for 198 yards and finished with team bests of 16 carries and 118 yards for the Yellowjackets, who lead four times. Carter Neer had two rushing touchdowns and one of Wooden’s touchdown receptions.

Neer scored twice in the first quarter as he ran in an 11-yard touchdown to give the Yellowjackets a 7-6 lead, and caught a 24-yard pass from Wooden for OHS, which took a 14-12 advantage into the second quarter.

Wooden ran in his first touchdown during the second quarter, a four-yard run to give the Yellowjackets a 21-18 lead, but Dryden took a 26-21 lead into halftime.

Neer recorded his third touchdown in the third quarter, a five-yard run to put the Yellowjackets ahead, 27-26, but it was the last lead they held as Dryden pulled away late. The Lions scored four consecutive touchdowns during the third and fourth quarters to eventually take a 54-27 lead.
