Walton beat visiting Bainbridge-Guilford, 69-45, in the first round of the MAC playoff tournament Thursday, Feb. 13.

The Warriors outscored the Bobcats in every quarter of play and registered double figures in each frame.

McKenzie Clough paced Walton with 22 points and also recorded 12 rebounds for a double-double.

The Warriors’ offense was supported by Makara MacGibbon’s 12 points, Lauren Frank’s 11 points and Grace Rhinehart’s nine points.

Rhinehart also totaled five assists and four steals and Frank added four assists.

Bainbridge-Guilford’s Macie Leizear dropped 20 points while Taylor Parsons provided 11.

Walton concluded with a 6-2 advantage in 3-pointers.

Walton (12-7) will host Oxford at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Valley 35

Oxford outlasted host Unadilla Valley in the first round of the MAC playoff tournament.

Madalyn Barrows led all scorers with 16 points on three field goals and went 9-10 from the free-throw line for Oxford.

Caitlyn Quigley was close behind with 15 points on five field goals and Karley Miller added 12 points on four field goals. Ellie Ryan also had 11 points on five field goals.

Oxford jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and expanded on that advantage down the stretch for a 23-point victory.

“We got into some major foul trouble and a couple of girls got hurt too,” Unadilla Valley coach Brandi Whitbeck said. “We just couldn’t get into a flow.”

Oxford shot 18-for-23 from the free-throw line, while Unadilla Valley went 8-for-18.

“They made their foul shots and we didn’t,” Whitbeck said.

Keona Courtright tallied the most points for the Storm, scoring 11 points on four field goals. Kyleigh George had nine points on four field goals, including UV’s one 3-pointer.

Unadilla Valley (8-11, 4-7) will play Bainbridge-Guilford Tuesday, Feb. 18.
