Megan Wilmot hit a decisive double in the bottom of the sixth for the Cherry Valley-Springfield softball team, and the Patriots rallied to beat visiting Richfield Springs, 17-16, for a league win on Thursday.

CV-S scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to complete the comeback. 

Wilmot hit a three-run double to kickstart the Patriots, who trailed, 16-7, entering the final inning. Hailey Erway went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple, and teammate Skylar Girard had three hits and scored three runs.

Kendra McGovern went 2-for-3 with a RBI and three runs for CV-S, and teammate Kelsey Girard had two hits, an RBI and one run.

"The bats really came alive for us," said Cherry Valley-Springfield coach Terry Brant, whose team totaled 15 hits.

Sam Rockwell hit a triple for the Patriots (1-2), who host Milford for a league game at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

RS 16, Morris 5

Nicole Connolly had eight strikeouts to lead Richfield Springs to a Tri-Valley League win on the road on Thursday.  

Evonna Mower went 2-for-4 at the plate with two triples for RS, which led, 12-3, at the end of the third inning. Hayleigh Snyder finished with three hits, and teammate Beth Snyder went 2-for-4 with a double in the victory.

Jessica Klem hit a triple for Richfield Springs, which totaled 11 hits as a team. Kaleigh Spencer had four strikeouts for Morris.

H-T 22, SK 12

Pitcher Aleeah Randazzo struck out 11, and hit a double at the plate to lead visiting Hunter-Tannersville to a win over South Kortright on Thursday.

Jordan Jacobs hit two doubles for H-T, which led, 12-4, going into the fifth inning.

Lexi DuBois hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, and had four hits to lead SK. Bella DuBois had three hits for South Kortright (0-4), which visits Roxbury at 4:15 p.m. on April 24.

Edmeston 16, Milford 1

Sarah Lawrence hit a home run and went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Edmeston to a Tri-Valley League win over visiting Milford on Thursday.

Lawrence, who had four RBIs, hit a solo home run in the third inning for the Panthers, who led, 8-0, after three innings.

Pitcher Catherine Johnson finished with 13 strikeouts, zero walks and allowed just two hits for Edmeston. At the plate, Johnson had a home run and a triple, and teammate Emily Rifanburg had three hits and four RBIs. 

''A lot of the girls are hitting well,'' said Edmeston coach Ken Plows, whose team finished with 17 hits. Edmeston (3-0) visits Gilbertsville-Mount Upton at 4:30 p.m. on April 21.

Eliya Pickwick took the loss for Milford, which scored it's lone run in the fourth inning.

Schenevus 23, Worcester 6

Hannah Osborne finished with two triples to lead visiting Schenevus to a win over Worcester on Thursday.

Megan Walke, who only walked one batter, earned the win for Schenevus, which held a 6-1 lead heading into the third inning.

Elexis Wilcox had two singles, and Essence Moorehead hit a double for Worcester, which scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.


CV 20, Oneonta 2

Nick Giacomelli scored two goals for Oneonta High School on Thursday, but the Yellowjackets were overwhelmed by visiting Chenango Valley.

For the Yellowjackets (0-3), who hosts Chenango Forks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nick Dower was 9-for-15 on faceoffs. Oneonta had 46 ground balls, and Chenango Valley had 56. 


Chenango Valley 5, Oneonta 2

At Chenango Valley, Oneonta High School's Chris Catan and Benji Blacklock earned wins, but the Yellowjackets struggled on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets lost all three of its double matches, 6-0, and lost its final two single matches, 6-0.

OHS (0-4) visits Chenango Forks at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
